Lampert Family Reserve 2003

THE REVIEW

Cold draw: 

Floral, wood 

First third: 

White pepper, sweet cedar, chocolate, slight red pepper, lemon citrus

Retro:

Cedar, lemon peel

Second third: 

Orange chocolate, slight pepper, wood, slight floral

Burn: 

Excellent up final third

Smoke: 

Large plumes of thick smoke

Final third: 

Rich milk chocolate, wood, grass, licorice, cherry

Retro: 

Cherry, chocolate, wood

Duration:

1 hour 29 minutes

Conclusion: 

I have really enjoyed most of the Lampert blends I’ve smoked, so I had high expectations for this one. To me this was a solid smoke, with good flavor notes, but perhaps some slightly bland flavors. While I say that I still enjoyed this cigar. The Chocolate and citrus notes were a nice combination in the first third, and as the cigar smoked the chocolate took me on a nice ride with a mix of rich milk chocolate and some deep cherry chocolate in the final third. Unfortunately the final third got a bit bitter. This could be due to the wrapper tear when removing the band, which busted up the cigar as it burned through the rip. With that said I will definitely revisit this blend. For now, I give this a 90, and worthy of a 5 pack.
