Conclusion:Â
At first light I get a mix of black pepper, cedar, and a sweetness. There is also an angostura bitters note, very unique and distinct. The black pepper is certainly the main note mixed with the cedar and bitters. It is an interesting combination, but not bad at all. About an inch down a tart fruit note joins the mix. Not too distinct, but it gives that tartness a sour beer would give. As the second third begins a creaminess blends in to counter the distinct bitters note. Definitely a plus. A light chocolate note and some earth is added to the mix, creating a very in depth flavor profile. A citrus note has joined which would only perfectly complement a manhattan or old fashioned. Wow. This really is a cocktail in a cigar. As the second third gets down toward the end, the light chocolate note becomes more prominent, creating a nice smooth balance between everything else going on. The final third transitions the flavor a bit, as it is chocolate and coffee forward, with black pepper and wood in the background. An enjoyable change up. The final third stays fairly consistent, and adds a bit of saltiness toward the end. Unfortunately, the burn and combustion was not the best, as several relights were required due to the cigar going out numerous times.
