Arturo Fuente Casa Fuente Corona Gorda

From its inception, you could only get the Arturo Fuente Casa Fuente cigars at the famous Casa Fuente Cigars lounge in Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas Nevada. But for a very limited time this must-have cigar is now available to local brick and mortar cigar shops. It is part of Fuente’s “Support Local” effort to help local cigar shops that have been affected by the Pandemic and to give fans of this popular brand who were not able to travel to Vegas a chance to get this coveted cigar. The release includes three vitolas from the Casa Fuente Series 5 in a mouthwatering Ecuadorian natural wrapper and seven sizes of the Casa Fuente cigar in a savory Cameroon wrapper. All are handmade at Tabacalera Fuente in the Dominican Republic.

Conclusion:

On initial light there is a distinct nutty sweetness, followed by pepper and coffee. Cocoa mixes in about a half inch in, and the pepper is mostly on the back end. This is a banger of a start. The sweetness on the cameroon wrapper is so strong and unique, and tasty! As the first third burns the nuttiness becomes stronger, and the cocoa blends to more of a chocolate. I will say that this does pack a bit of a punch, which tends to be the case with Cameroon wrapped cigars due to the nicotine strength. On the retro the nuttiness really shines, with some cedar in the background. As the second third begins a slight crack in the wrapper appeared, along with a handful of ripped wrapper near the cap. The Cameroon wrapper is so damn thin it makes it hard to get through one without some sort of crack or rip. Doesn’t seem to affect the draw so far. The second third has transitioned to a creamy nutty chocolate bomb, with undertones of cedar, such a delicious combo. The chocolate sweetness hits different. It’s smooth, it’s rich, but not in your face rich. It’s hot chocolate on a winter day. Unfortunately the crack has started to affect the draw, and double puffing is needed to get a decent puff, but only to last through the crack as the burn and draw has corrected itself. The profile continues to be chocolate dominant and reminds me of a Ukrainian chocolate I love, called Leshchina. Very delicious. It almost has a dark fruit hint to it as well, and the chocolate note seems to slowly become richer while keeping its smoothness. On the retro it further distinguishes the rich chocolate note, and provides some nuttiness on the depth. The final third continues with the same profile as the second third, but unfortunately the wrapper has started to fall apart and unravel. Luckily there is about an inch or so left. Flavors stay intact with that creamy nutty chocolate the main note. Overall this cigar gets a 98, near perfect. If only the entirety of the cigar was that sweet nutty creamy chocolate, we’d have a 100 here.
