Alfonso Producción Limitada Anejos No. 3

Alfonso is another astounding line from Selected Tobaccos, the brand behind Atabey, Byron, Bandolero, and more. Alfonso pays homage to the Alfonso family, who have been producing premium, hand rolled cigars in Cuba since 1850. Alfonoso’s Produccion Limitada line uses a 2 year old Ecuadorian wrapper, 3 year old Ecuadorian binder, and fillers aged for 3 years. Followed by 4 years of post-roll age, a process used almost exclusively by Selected Tobacco brands.

Conclusion:

Let me first say this cigar is absolutely beautiful. The golden brown leaf is as smooth as a leaf can get, it has a perfect amount of shine to it, and the band radiates elegance. The first third starts off incredibly smooth and caramel creamy. A slight white pepper adds a nice touch, and citrus and slight chocolate round out the flavor profile of the first inch or so. Shortly after the citrus becomes more of a lemon peel and moves more upfront. The second third brings in a few new flavor notes, as in the forefront it starts off with the lemon peel and mild chocolate. Cedar and leather round out the start of the second third on the back end. Still such a smooth blended cigar. About halfway through and the caramel sweetness returns, and a candy cherry note joins, very mild but just the right touch. On the retro I mostly get white pepper and cedar. Final third brings in a nice milk chocolate with earthy and white pepper undertones. Cedar and a meatiness join with about an inch and a half left.
